Twitter 3rd party OAuth setup

As per the documentation, while creating the Matillion ETL app on Twitter, I give the callback URL in the following format: "http://etl.<company>.com/oauth_redirect.html". But then, Twitter says, "The client application failed validation: Not a valid URL format."

Please help.

Hi Rohit,

I have not seen this previously. Please can you share a screenshot of the error?

Did you assign a DNS name for your matillion server (etl.<companyname>.com)? or is that a change to the local hosts file?

Hi Kalyan,

Thanks for the response. I did not specify the correct app domain. Once I did that, Twitter validated the callback URL.

After that though, I was able to register the app and got the Client Key and Client secret. But after entering those, I go to the Twitter authorization page, where I authorize the Matillion app and then when the Twitter app redirects me to Matillion, it still shows the Authorization link and not "Authorization successful".

I have tried closing all windows and running it afresh in Private mode also. It still has the same behavior. Any idea on why this might be happening?

Thanks,
Rohit

Hi Rohit,

That’s strange. Please can you check using a different browser? What is the status on the OAuth entry under Project→Manage OAuth?

Hi Rohit,

Based on later conversations, I guess you got this working correctly!

Please let us know if you have any more problems with it.

Best regards,
Ian
